Winter Driving Safety Tips

Thousands of people around the country are injured and even die due to the severity of injuries sustained during road accidents, many from a lack of simple driving safety. The number of injuries and deaths skyrocket during winter. During extreme weather you should limit your driving to when it is necessary and even then, wait until road workers have cleared the road. Winter Driving Safety Tips You should be careful not to leave your departure point too late. Driving fast during winter to arrive at your destination quickly can only mean trouble for you, the passengers in your car and the other drivers on the road. Driving Safety Tips When Driving On Icy Roads You cannot tell the condition of other vehicles on the road or the driver’s mental state or how well that person can drive in winter conditions. Car Care Tip #11 – Get Educated!

Some of us plan to upgrade their vehicle in the next few months. SAVE yourself future expense and problems and spend some time gathering information. Some of our customer’s heartaches could have been avoided if they would have purchased a different vehicle! Most common mistake in buying a pre-owned vehicle:“It looks clean, the price is right and I REALLY like it…- so I don’t think I need to bother taking the time or money to get my mechanic to take quick look at this beauty!” We have had customers purchase vehicles that have: 1. Water Damage – you have to know where to look for this – it is not obvious to most people 2. Rolled - front driver door and back passenger door just seemed like they need to be adjusted 3. Wrecked - but nothing was on Car Fax and the dealership that sold the vehicle bought it a car auction and there was not any previous hi ... read more

A Birthday Thank You From Nick Sallas

You can imagine my surprise when I realized that Carla was behind the photo in our Coupon Club email that went out on my birthday. I don’t exactly wear half-shirts anymore. I was shocked to say the least. I got so many calls and emails. Not to mention Facebook messages. I caught a lot of heat off of that picture. But in the end, it was really humorous and a good joke. Plus, it was great to hear from so many of you. Thanks to all of you for the birthday wishes. The comments about the photo my wife posted were funny. I also wanted say thanks to everyone who brought in canned food for Harvesters. We had a special drive on my birthday for canned food. But as an auto repair shop in KC, we have an ongoing opportunity to bring in food for Harvesters. It gives us an opportunity to help people in need. Last year we fed 2600 families between our Kansas Ci ... read more

Who Says Hybrid Cars Can’t Be Sexy?

We’ve been talking electric vehicles for a couple of posts and even shown you a few that can be in your driveway today. For the most part they look like any other car on the road and if you do the conversion yourself they are exactly like any other car on the road. So if you’re hesitating about electric simply because they’re kind of ordinary we have the blog for you. From Audi to Porsche the concept car is going electric. And unlike the concept car of old these may just see the light of day and the envy of your neighbors. Citroen Survolt- we’ve covered electric cars before but not like this one. April is National Car Care Month: Spring Into Action

April is National Car Care Month and the Car Care Council reminds motorists to spring into action and follow 10 basic maintenance procedures to make sure their vehicles are running at peak performance for the summer driving season. 1. Check all fluids, including engine oil, power steering, brake and transmission as well as windshield washer solvent and antifreeze/coolant. 2. Check the hoses and belts to make sure they are not cracked, brittle, frayed, loose or showing signs of excessive wear. 3. Check the battery and replace if necessary. Make sure the connection is clean, tight and corrosion-free. 4. Check the brake system annually and have the brake linings, rotors and drums inspected at each oil change. 5.
